The Last Viking is a bizarre black comedy by Danish director Anders Thomas Jensen (Riders of Justice, among others). Once again, he has managed to secure star actor Mads Mikkelsen for a leading role, alongside Nicolaj Lie Kaas. This film is like a friends project
Anker (Lie Kaas) is a hot-tempered criminal who is released after serving 15 years in prison. His brother Manfred (Mikkelsen) buried the loot from his bank robbery at that time and is the only one who knows where it is. Unfortunately, Manfred has developed a mental disorder that causes him to forget everything. One moment he thinks he is a Viking, the next he thinks he is the reincarnation of Beatle John Lennon. With a bloodthirsty rival hot on their heels, a race against time begins. The brothers set out in search of both the money and themselves.
This is our monthly screening, especially for our non-Dutch speaking fellow cinemalovers. The film has English subtitles.
