Every month - on a Friday night somewhere half-way - Filmtheater De Witt presents EXPAT CINEMA. We screen an English language movie or a movie with English subtitles to reach out to film fans in/around Dordrecht, who are not familiar with the Dutch language. Please join your fellow-expat-citizens to experience a good movie and enjoy the occasion to meet fellow citizens from abroad. Dutchies are welcome too.
In 1917, the young, talented music student Lionel (Paul Mescal) meets his fellow student David (Josh O'Connor) at the Boston Conservatory. A strong bond develops between them because of their shared love of folk music. When Lionel receives a letter from David years later, it leads to an impromptu journey through the wilderness of Maine to collect folk songs. Their unexpected reunion, the ensuing love affair and the music they collect and record will have a defining influence on the course of Lionel’s life.
This timid, romantic drama by director Oliver Hermanus evokes memories of the classic gay-love movie Brokeback Mountain.
There will be a short introduction by Geert ter Steeg.
